Upcoming classes and workshops
Join me at the Richmond Art Center for the upcoming spring session, classes begin in mid-April and run for six weeks.
A strong drawing practice sharpens the eye and builds a foundation in form and composition—skills that support a wide spectrum of art practices- and I believe drawing is an especially helpful skill for painters. That’s why I’m teaching both.
Spring Session
Richmond Art Center
Wednesdays • 5–8 pm
April 15 – May 20, 2026
Over the course of six classes, we will focus on building a consistent drawing practice through in-class work, demonstrations, and guided exercises, alongside the development of a personal drawing journal to be used both during class and throughout the week.
Students will explore core drawing fundamentals—observation, line, value, and composition—while also using drawing as a tool for personal expression and experimentation. The class is open to beginning through advanced students and is especially suited for those looking to refresh, deepen, or reestablish a regular drawing practice in a supportive studio environment.

April 17–May 22, 2026
Over the course of six weeks, students will paint curated still life compositions of objects and flowers while exploring the rich history and evolving approaches to the genre.
Working in oil, each student will develop a series of paintings over time, deepening skills in composition, color, and paint handling with each session. The class is suited for students with some prior painting experience and is ideal for those looking to deepen their understanding of still life, refine their technical skills, and develop a more consistent studio practice in a supportive environment.
